Course Description
The online training consists of lectures, video presentations and case discussions designed to review basic principles and updates on HIV and other TTI screening. Pre-recorded lectures and activities will be accessed by participants through the RITM-LEARN learning and management system at a scheduled time. Participants who have completed the one-day training course with its corresponding examination will receive a renewed Certificate of Proficiency.

Rationale/Background
Medical technologists for Blood Service Facilities (BSF) who are proficiency with HIV and other TTI Testing should be knowledgeable of the latest updates and trends in relation to the principles, policies, guidelines and best practices in blood screening to ensure that blood units served are safe for transfusion and are tested within quality standards.
The training (to be provided via RITM LEARN learning management system) consists of lectures and vide presentations designed to review the basic principles and updates on HIV and other TTI screening.
Objectives
At the end of this 1-day refresher course, each HIV proficient Medical Technologist will be updated and reviewed on the principles and policies related to HIV and other TTI testing and screening.
• Discuss new updates in testing for HIV and other TTI
• Discuss important data in HIV and other TTI epidemiology
• Discuss the testing algorithm in screening blood units
• Discuss pertinent policies in relation to blood safety
• Enumerate updates in the RITM referral system
• Discuss good manufacturing principles in blood service facilities
• Analyze EQAS results
Expected Outputs/Competencies Acquired
Participants are expected to be updated in the national blood screening policies and available testing platforms and competent in applying good manufacturing practices in the blood service facilities.

Preferred Participants
- Previous HIV Proficiency Certificate that will expire in the year 2023
- Currently working in the Blood Service Facility
- Valid PRC License as Medical Technologist

Admission Requirements
- Endorsement Letter from the Pathology Head or Institution Head
- HIV Proficiency Certificate that will expire in the year 2023
- Copy of Certificate of Inclusions
- Copy of License to Operate
- Copy of Valid PRC License
Additional Requirement
- Currently Working in Blood Service Facility
- Blood Service Facility that is capable to test 5 TTIs
